Rewilding the Bible
An open conversation about faith, doubt, and how we read scripture
Many people aren’t confused about the Bible — they’re tired of it.
Tired of being told it’s inerrant.
Tired of watching it used to control, exclude, or shame.
Tired of feeling that honest questions mean faith is slipping away.
This Campfire is a space for people who still care about faith, but struggle with how the Bible has been handed to them — and are looking for more honest, life-giving ways of engaging it.
What this evening is (and isn’t)
This is a conversation, not a lecture.
A small number of guest voices will each share briefly from their own journey with the Bible — how their understanding has changed, what they’ve had to let go of, and what (if anything) has slowly returned in a different form.
From there, the space opens up for:
reflections on what’s been shared
questions people are carrying
curiosity, disagreement, and uncertainty
It is not:
a debate
a Bible study
an attempt to “fix” anyone’s beliefs
Nothing is recorded, and listening quietly is always a valid way to take part.
Why this one matters
This is the first of eight Campfire discussions planned across the year.
It’s also one of the most important, because the way we hold the Bible inevitably shapes how we approach everything else — our understanding of God, the cross, the body, suffering, justice, hope, and the unknown.
If your relationship with scripture feels strained, disappointed, or unresolved, you’re very much in the right place.
About the wider project
This Campfire is part of Rewilding Faith, a year-long journey exploring Christian faith in more thoughtful, open, and spacious ways.
You don’t need to be part of the wider series to attend, and there’s no expectation to commit to anything beyond this evening. Many people will come simply because this topic resonates.
