March Spark Talk (Carrickfergus): Rewilding God: Beyond the God We Once Knew

  • Harbour Faith Community (map)

In March we explore the word “God”.

For some of us, “God” has become loaded, complicated, or just… unusable. For others it still carries beauty, comfort, and deep meaning.

This month is about giving ourselves permission to be honest and curious:

  • What do we mean when we say “God”?

  • Are we talking about a being, a presence, a force, a relationship, a metaphor… or something that emerges?

  • What happens to “God” when you take evolution, suffering, and uncertainty seriously?

  • Can Christians let go of inherited assumptions about God and still be Christian? (Spoiler: yes. The church survived worse.)

You don’t need to agree with anything. You don’t need to share anything. Listening counts.

About the setting

The talk takes place within the Sunday morning service at Harbour Faith Community, so that regulars there can also engage with the theme.

If you’re wary of church spaces, please be reassured:

  • visitors are genuinely welcome

  • no one will single you out

  • no one will try to recruit you

  • you won’t be asked to say or do anything

You’re free to listen, reflect, and take what’s helpful.

If you can’t attend in person, or would prefer to engage from a distance, the talk will be recorded and shared afterwards.
